Radio Frequency Vulcanization (RF)
radio frequency vulcanizashun rf
A high-speed curing method in which uncured latex foam blocks are exposed to radio-frequency energy (≈ 13–27 MHz). The alternating electric field excites water molecules evenly throughout the latex, generating internal heat that vulcanizes (cross-links) the rubber in minutes instead of the steam-bake cycles that can take hours. Benefits include: 1) Uniform core—no under-cured centers; 2) Shorter production times & lower energy use; 3) Tighter cell structure for consistent firmness. RF vulcanization is used by select premium latex producers and is still uncommon in mass-market mattresses.
